Atrani

Atrani is a fabulous fishing village that is completely isolated from any traffic and cacophony. Atrani is the smallest self-governing villages throughout southern Italy. Typical of the Amalfi Coast typical white houses, flowered balconies, spiced with a little lemon, can provide the perfect visuals for anyone who wants the freedom to spend the Dragone River Valley. Unfortunately, there is no precise information on the founding of the village, but there are some assumptions. Some say the name comes from the Latin word for aa "atrum" (dark, because of the geo
graphical location), while others are named after an ancient Greek settlement (Atranes).

I feel that Atrani preserved medieval townscape. The narrow streets, alleyways, vaulted spaces house a perfect view of the city returns the remaining records from the medieval Piazza Umberto space is almost one-to-one can be found in the hamlet as well.

Atrani, just like the rest of the Amalfi Coast town was the residence of the Roman patricians, where sumptuous villas were built up by the sea, which is a part of the excavation due to meet you again. The city was mentioned in 596, Pope Gregory the first letter.
